Officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Iddo divisional police command in Abuja on Tuesday arrested a young man in possession of a sword in the premises of Junior Secondary School Gosa, Abuja.
The young man who was caught in possession of the walking stick shaped sword, disrupted activities in the school which was marking it’s 10th Annual Inter-house Competition programme.
The suspect said he is from Zamfara state and was taking the sword to someone when he noticed the crowd in the school and decided to go into the school premises.
When the security men on duty noticed the body language of the young man, they quickly gave him a hot chase and caught up with him.
An iron rod was also recovered from the suspect and the school authority immediately handed him over to the Iddo police command who took the suspect away.
The Principal of the school , Mr. Achi Michael noted that lack of perimeter fence in the school is a huge challenge as it opens the door for such people to make their way into the school premises.
