The third edition of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon will hold on Saturday, November 14, 2026, bringing together elite athletes, recreational runners and fitness enthusiasts in the Federal Capital Territory.
Organized by Nilayo Sports Management Limited, the 21-kilometre race has grown into a major road-running event in Nigeria, attracting local and international participants since its inaugural edition in 2024.
The organizers said registration opened on Friday, September 18, 2026, with interested participants able to register online or physically at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja. Prospective runners have been encouraged to register early to allow sufficient time for training and preparation.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Mrs. Yetunde Olopade, expressed confidence that the 2026 edition would build on previous successes and meet international standards.
She said the organizers were working to improve athlete welfare, route management, medical services, security, logistics and entertainment, while creating a more engaging experience for spectators and families.
Olopade added that entertainment zones would be introduced along the race route to enhance the experience for participants and supporters.
The event, sponsored by PremiumTrust Bank, is expected to promote healthy living, fitness and community engagement while supporting sports tourism in Abuja.
The race route, which passes through some of the capital’s notable landmarks and scenic corridors, is designed to showcase the city’s appeal while combining athletics with civic pride.
Beyond its recreational and tourism benefits, the half marathon provides Nigerian long-distance runners with an opportunity to compete against international athletes, improve their performances and prepare for continental and global competitions.
Since its introduction, the competition has also contributed to the development of Nigeria’s road-running sector, encouraging young people to embrace running and creating economic opportunities for vendors, volunteers and businesses in the hospitality industry.
The November 14 event is expected to attract athletes and spectators to Abuja, further promoting the capital as a destination for major sporting competitions and activities that encourage active lifestyles.
