The Federal Government of Nigeria and the State of Libya have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation on migration management, prisoner transfer, and regional security following a high-level bilateral meeting between their foreign ministers.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, met with Libya’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Mr. Taher Elbaour, to discuss issues of mutual interest and ways to deepen collaboration between both countries.
The ministers focused on migration management, the transfer of prisoners, and the worsening security situation in the Sahel region. They stressed the need for stronger cooperation to tackle irregular migration, enhance regional peace and stability, and address shared humanitarian concerns.
Both sides also agreed to maintain close diplomatic engagement and strengthen coordination in advancing common security and humanitarian objectives, reaffirming their commitment to sustained bilateral relations.
The meeting underscored the growing partnership between Nigeria and Libya in addressing cross-border challenges and promoting stability across the region.
