The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Wednesday, commissioned the Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC) in Maiduguri, a state-of-the-art Computer-Based Test (CBT) facility donated by the Borno State Government.
He was accompanied by the incoming Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina.
The ultra-modern facility, constructed on a 5,300-square-metre expanse of land, is fully fenced, beautifully landscaped, and powered by a dedicated 300kVA transformer to ensure uninterrupted operations.
The main administrative complex houses 8 offices, 3 conference rooms, 4 registration areas, and 16 convenience facilities. It also features 2 CBT halls, each equipped with 275 computers, giving the centre the capacity to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examinations.
To enhance candidates’ experience, the facility includes 2 spacious waiting areas with a combined capacity of 500 candidates at a time, as well as 6 additional convenience facilities designed to provide comfort while candidates await their examination sessions.
The foundation for the project was laid by the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on February 24, 2026, and was completed in less than six months, ahead of the timeline originally set by the Governor.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Prof. Oloyede expressed profound appreciation to Governor Zulum for what he described as a landmark investment in education. He noted that the centre would significantly improve access to JAMB registration and Computer-Based Testing for candidates across the North-East geopolitical zone, thereby reducing the challenges many students previously encountered in pursuing tertiary education.
He commended the Governor’s unwavering commitment to educational development, describing Borno State’s support for JAMB and the education sector as exemplary. According to him, members of the JAMB delegation had also toured several of the state’s smart schools and were impressed by the administration’s deliberate efforts to position education as a catalyst for sustainable development.
On his part, the incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, also lauded Governor Zulum for the strong partnership between the Borno State Government and JAMB. He urged the state to sustain the collaboration, noting that continued cooperation would further strengthen the Board’s operations while expanding access to quality educational opportunities.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising education as a strategic tool for addressing Borno State’s social and economic challenges. He disclosed that the state government invested over ₦1 billion in the construction of the mega CBT centre, stressing that the long-term educational and developmental benefits of the project far outweigh its cost.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue investing in educational infrastructure and human capital development as part of broader efforts to rebuild and transform the state.
