The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in strengthening air transport operations, particularly in the area of welfare flights and logistics support.
The Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, gave the assurance on Tuesday during a strategic meeting with senior officers of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport in Lagos. The Army delegation was led by the Corps Commander, Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya.
Major General Shagaya explained that the visit was aimed at reinforcing existing ties between both institutions, while also exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation. He noted that discussions focused on the potential revival of the Nigerian Army Air Freight Company and the introduction of structured welfare flight operations for military personnel.
He further emphasized the need for FAAN’s support in providing designated holding areas and operational assistance to ensure smooth transit for officers and soldiers, especially those connecting across various duty locations nationwide.
According to him, improved coordination would significantly enhance the comfort, efficiency, and welfare of personnel engaged in critical national assignments.
Responding, Mrs. Kuku welcomed the proposal and assured the delegation of FAAN’s commitment to supporting seamless operations for the planned welfare flights. She reaffirmed that the Authority remains dedicated to its mandate of ensuring safe, secure, and efficient airport services across the country.
The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by both agencies to deepen inter-agency cooperation and strengthen logistics and welfare systems for Nigeria’s military personnel.
