Actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, has confirmed that she is the running mate to Olajide Adediran, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State.
In a video she posted on Tuesday, Akindele revealed her reasons for taking up the position, adding that she will be putting her acting career on hold for her political ambition.
She said, “I am a Lagosian, born out of Ikorodu, when the Lagos PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr.Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, Jandor, asked me to be his running mate as Deputy Governor in next year’s gubernatorial election, I saw it as an opportunity to help liberate and improve the welfare of our people, particularly the deprived youth, women and the girl child.
“My decision is not only to accept this huge responsibility but also to work tirelessly and complement Jandor’s burning desire to see our dear state of Lagos live up to its full potential, with the people as immediate and direct beneficiaries”.
“Given your mandate, be assured that the people’s governor, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, with the support of my humble self, represents the much needed breath of fresh air in Lagos State”, she concluded.
Meanwhile, in her closing remark, she omitted her husband’s name “Bello”, an action which has got many people talking. She said, “I am Olunfunke Akindele, PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Lagos State”.
