Presidential Election: Too Many Pretenders and Opportunists—By Dr. Chucks Osuji

In the next few weeks or so, all the major political parties in this country, according to the recently signed Electoral  Bill, will hold their primaries. From what we are observing now, some of the primaries will be “ Politically Bloody” . Why do I make such an assertion? Many years ago, a Greek medical doctor who was working in a Nigerian hospital was about to carry out a surgery on a young man, the parents were present in the theatre room observing the procedure, he opened the young man, looked inside him, he looked at the parents of the young man and said, “what I see no good”. By the same token “what I see today in the Nigerian Political Arena today no good”.

As of today, there are about twenty presidential aspirants in all the parties. Yet, the number is increasing. The latest aspirant to declare was Dr. Chris Ngige the current Minister Of  Labour. Many people including myself have come to see the declaration of some aspirants as a melodrama, particularly that of Ngige. Some think it is a huge joke, because of all Federal ministers Chris Ngige has recorded the worst performance waiting.

Infact, he is still a minister today because Buhari is not in control of his ministers and perhaps they are not accountable to him, otherwise, how could a minister of Labour who has not been able to resolve the dispute between ASUU and Federal Government over a long period have the shame to declare that he wants to be the president of Nigeria?

Honestly, I was expecting Chief Okoroigwe Nwaogbe alias Zebudiah to declare for the presidency. Because he will garner many votes from many Nigerians ten times more than Chris Ngige. Now I have come to suspect mischief in the whole declaration process. Speculatively, both Rotimi Amaechi and Chris Ngige were planted by Tinubu to whittle down the votes from South East and South South. Otherwise, what Electoral value can Ngige and Rotimi muster? Two of them have posted the poorest performance record in the history of the Nigerian Government. And this could convince them that they don’t have even a microscopic Electoral value. It is pertinent  to mention that these two ministers have been hired to play spoiler games at the APC presidential primaries.

Before long, this prediction will manifest. It is my honest opinion, that both Amaechi and Ngige, would have the worst result during the APC primary. In the end, they would record the worst votes in the history of presidential primaries in this Country. But they will smile to the Banks to their National disgrace. However, they are too big to play spoiler games in the hands of Tinubu.
