The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishments of Nigeria (APPMEN) has announced plans to host its 2026 one-day national conference aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s private media and digital content ecosystem through collaboration, capacity building and strategic partnerships.
The conference, themed “APPMEN: Voice, Vision, Purpose,” will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju Hall, beside the TETFund Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja.
According to the association, the conference will bring together media proprietors, digital content creators, policymakers, government officials, regulators, corporate organizations, development partners and media entrepreneurs to deliberate on the future of Nigeria’s media industry and its role in national development.
APPMEN said the conference is designed to reposition the country’s private media and digital content sector as a catalyst for economic growth, responsible storytelling, job creation and democratic development.
The event will be held in two sessions. The morning session will feature the conference proper, with masterclass training by legal experts, media scholars and industry practitioners. It will also include a panel discussion on “The Future of Nigerian Media: Policy, Platforms and Purpose,” interactive question-and-answer sessions, stakeholder commitments and the presentation of a communiqué.
The evening session will feature a gala night and cocktail, during which distinguished Nigerians will be honoured for their contributions to national development. The programme will also include an investiture ceremony, the unveiling of ambassadors for “The Leadership We Want” Campaign, and the official presentation of the maiden edition of APPMEN Magazine.
The association called on the Federal Government, state governments, regulatory agencies, corporate organizations, development partners and media support institutions to partner with APPMEN in advancing the objectives of the conference.
It noted that sponsorship and partnership support would help fund training programmes for media practitioners and content creators, legal aid initiatives, safety programmes and platforms dedicated to promoting Nigerian stories to global audiences.
Speaking about the conference, APPMEN FCT Council Coordinator and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Felix Onuah, described the initiative as a movement to build a media sector that is ethical, professional, profitable and patriotic.
Also speaking, APPMEN National Coordinator, Chief Precious Enebuse, urged stakeholders across the public and private sectors to support the conference, describing it as a unique opportunity to shape the future of Nigeria’s media landscape.
