The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has congratulated prominent Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of ValueJet, Mr. Kunle Soname, as he marks his 60th birthday, describing him as a visionary whose contributions have transformed private air travel in Nigeria.

In a statement issued in Lagos on April 27, 2026, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, on behalf of the management and staff of the Authority, celebrated Soname’s achievements in aviation, sports, and enterprise.

The statement, signed by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, praised Soname for establishing ValueJet, noting that the airline has become a respected indigenous carrier known for its commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality service delivery.

According to FAAN, Soname’s bold entry into the aviation industry reflects courage, foresight, and dedication to raising standards within Nigeria’s air transport sector. The Authority noted that his efforts have helped strengthen confidence in locally owned airlines and expanded travel options for passengers.

FAAN also commended his investments in sports development, particularly in football, where he has created opportunities for young Nigerian talents to thrive and gain international exposure.

“As he celebrates this milestone, we wish him continued good health, wisdom, and greater accomplishments. His legacy remains a source of inspiration to many aspiring entrepreneurs and industry leaders,” the statement said.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to supporting indigenous airlines such as ValueJet through better airport infrastructure, improved passenger experience, and efficient operations nationwide.
