Abuja -The Isreal Ibeleme Foundation in the spirit of sport promotion in schools, has donated a trophy for the overall best position in sporting activities to Junior Secondary School Gosa Abuja.
The trophy which will hence forth be given to the overall best winners in the school’s inter-house competition was named “Isreal Ibeleme Foundation Award”.

Speaking to The Sight News on Tuesday at the JSS Gosa 10th Annual Inter-house Competition programme, the founder, Israel Ibeleme Foundation, Mr. Isreal Ibeleme ,said that the award is aimed at promoting the spirit of sportsmanship in schools.
“If you recall, early last year we gave scholarship to about six of their students and this year Isreal Ibeleme decided to invest in a trophy for the overall first position to encourage the students in sport” he said.
On governments encouragement of sport in schools, he noted that the government is trying, but well spirited Nigerians can support the government in boosting sporting activities in schools.
According to Ibeleme, “Generally, I must say that Nigerians should also support students from primary schools in sport. They should invest in sport facilities. We should encourage our students to participate in sport”.

He remarked that six students in JSS Gosa who were awarded scholarship by the foundation have been doing well so far and their studies have greatly improved.
He however encouraged the house that won the Isreal Ibeleme Foundation trophy to keep it up, maintain the standard and ensure that they do better next year.
The Principal of Junior Secondary School Gosa, FCT, Mr. Achi Michael in his remarks, said that outdoor activities in school setting cannot be underrated as it helps the mind and provides a healthy environment for the body structure to work effectively.
In his words, “Through sport, students who are not academically sound could be reckoned with in the society. As you compete in this year’s event, as students of this great school and as invited relay schools, let the spirit of sportsmanship be your watch word. If you don’t win today, you will win another day”.

He however noted that the school is faced with the challenges of lack of perimeter fence, inadequate teaching staff in subject areas and lack of sports equipment.
The principal congratulated Isreal Ibeleme foundation for giving scholarship to six students of the school and for providing bags, text books as well as paying for the overall best trophy for sporting competitions.
While praying for God to open more doors for Israel Ibeleme Foundation, he Challenged other well meaning Nigerians to support and encourage sport development in the school.
The excited overall winners of the competitionGwagwalada House(Yellow house) was declared the overall best winners of the 10th annual inter-house sport competitions and received the Isreal Ibeleme Foundation trophy.
