The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that power supply has been restored at 4:54 p.m. on Saturday, 17th October 2026, following the successful completion of annual preventive maintenance on its 60MVA 132/33kV Transformer TR1  at the 330/132/33kV Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.

The transformer was taken out of service at 12:17 p.m. to enable TCN’s maintenance crew to carry out annual preventive maintenance on the transformer and its accessories, a statement by the TCN management noted.

TCN explained that during the maintenance exercise, power supply was interrupted for only 10 minutes before the commencement of the maintenance and 10 minutes after its completion. Areas affected during the short outage period include parts of Kuje Road, Kuje town and environs, Kwali Express Road, Kwali town, Dobi Village, Giri, UniAbuja, Pegi, Gwako, Gosa and environs.

TCN appreciated the understanding and cooperation of electricity consumers during the maintenance exercise.
