The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda, describing the administration’s policies as necessary steps towards national prosperity.
Idris made the call on Friday during a courtesy visit by the Director-General of Friends of Tinubu Reforms (FTR), Comrade Agbor Ebipade, who visited to introduce the organization and seek partnership with the ministry to promote the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots.
The minister identified the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of the foreign exchange market as major reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, noting that the country had made progress in meeting its obligations since Tinubu assumed office.
He also highlighted government interventions in education, agriculture, security and infrastructure, including student loans and major road projects.
Idris stressed the need for accurate and sustained communication of government policies, saying Nigerians must understand the objectives and benefits of the reforms to enable them to participate meaningfully in national development.
“Every part of this country deserves to know what this administration is doing. Government officials alone cannot communicate government programmes effectively. We need partnerships with civil society organizations, voluntary groups and support groups like yours to explain these reforms to Nigerians across the country,” he said.
The minister commended FTR for compiling information on the administration’s reforms, describing collaboration with support groups and civil society organizations as important to expanding public awareness of government policies.
Earlier, Ebipade said FTR was established to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen communication between the government and citizens.
He explained that the organization planned to launch a compendium of reforms to make government policies more accessible to Nigerians at the grassroots.
“We put together this compendium because President Tinubu is working, and we need all Nigerians to see the good work that he is doing,” Ebipade said.
He also invited Idris to serve as the organization’s Grand Patron, expressing confidence that his support would strengthen its efforts to promote public understanding of the administration’s programmes.
The minister welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to communicating government policies and programmes in clear and accessible language.
