The University of Calabar Theatre Arts Alumni Association (UCTAAA) has urged its members to celebrate the association’s rich heritage while working collectively to preserve its achievements and build a lasting legacy for future generations.
The call was made during the unveiling of the theme for the association’s 2026 reunion, “Celebrating Our Journey, Advancing Our Legacy,” held in Lagos as part of the EKO 2026 reunion celebration.
Addressing members at the gathering, the reunion’s presiding Board Chairperson, Dr. Mrs. Ndidi Rita Anuchienwa, urged members to reflect on the association’s journey and recognise the contributions of women who have distinguished themselves across various fields of endeavour.
She noted that UCTAAA members had demonstrated creativity, resilience and leadership over the years, stressing that the association’s legacy was defined not only by past achievements but also by the future its members collectively choose to build.
Anuchienwa appreciated the Global President, Global Vice President, other dignitaries and members who attended the reunion, welcoming them to Lagos for the EKO 2026 celebration.
She encouraged members to celebrate their shared history, strengthen their bonds and remain committed to advancing the association’s legacy, while expressing gratitude to Almighty God for His faithfulness and preservation.
As part of the ceremony, members observed a minute of silence in honour of colleagues who had passed away, acknowledging their contributions to the association and their enduring memories.
In a related remark, the reunion’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairperson reflected on the loss of several members over the years, revealing that her set alone had lost more than 10 colleagues who would have loved to attend the gathering.
She explained that the joy, dancing and celebrations at the reunion went beyond expressions of happiness, describing them as acts of gratitude to God for preserving the lives of members who were still alive.
According to her, the reunion provided an opportunity to celebrate life, honour departed colleagues and appreciate the grace that had sustained members through the years.
The EKO 2026 reunion reaffirmed UCTAAA’s commitment to preserving its shared history, strengthening enduring friendships and creating greater opportunities for members, particularly women.
The event also highlighted the importance of unity, remembrance, gratitude and purposeful leadership in sustaining the association’s legacy for future generations.
