Nigeria’s newly appointed High Commissioner to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Rt. Hon. Jerrymon Samuel Manwe, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency Christine Carla Kangaloo, officially commencing his diplomatic assignment in the Caribbean nation.
The credential presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, in line with established diplomatic tradition that marks the formal accreditation of a Head of Mission.
High Commissioner Manwe was accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Martin Nworie Eze, and the Minister Counsellor at the Nigerian High Commission, Mrs. Angye Dankaro, who witnessed the ceremony.
The event featured the signing of the Visitors’ Book, the presentation of the Letters of Credence, an exchange of official gifts, and discussions on issues of mutual interest aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago. The ceremony concluded with the High Commissioner’s ceremonial departure, escorted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Mounted Branch.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the presentation of credentials is a longstanding diplomatic tradition that signifies the formal commencement of a Head of Mission’s responsibilities in the host country.
