The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the death of Ambassador Beatrice Uwani Danladi, describing her passing as a significant loss to Nigeria’s diplomatic community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the ministry’s Spokesperson, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa noted that Ambassador Danladi died on Friday, May 29, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
Until her death, she served as Director of the Southern African Affairs Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry described the late diplomat as a dedicated and exemplary officer whose service to the nation was marked by professionalism, humility, and unwavering commitment to duty.
Born in Kaduna State in 1974, Ambassador Danladi studied Political Science at the University of Abuja before joining the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2001.
Over the course of her diplomatic career, she served in several Nigerian missions abroad, including Cairo in Egypt, London in the United Kingdom, and Madrid in Spain.
She was elevated to the rank of Ambassador-in-Situ by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023 and was also a Fellow of the National Defence College, Abuja.
According to the ministry, Ambassador Danladi earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and associates across the foreign service through her diligence, loyalty, and quiet dedication to national service.
“The Ministry extends its heartfelt condolences to her immediate family, friends, colleagues, associates and the Government of Taraba State during this difficult period,” the statement by Ebienfa read.
The ministry also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and for strength for her loved ones to bear the loss.
