The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged Corps Members to use their service year to acquire relevant skills, embrace entrepreneurship and explore opportunities for wealth creation.
Nafiu gave the advice while addressing the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Anambra State.
He encouraged the Corps Members to build lasting relationships, identify business opportunities and develop multiple sources of income to meet their financial needs.
The NYSC boss stressed the importance of diligence and continuous skills acquisition, urging the young graduates to take advantage of their youthful years to establish sustainable businesses and secure their financial future.
He advised them to consider legitimate investment opportunities, including long-term investments in the stock market.
“Open your eyes, make friends and leverage comparative advantage. Buy shares for long-term investments,” he said.
Nafiu also charged the Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities, particularly through teaching and the impartation of knowledge.
In her camp situation report, the NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, disclosed that 1,623 Corps Members had registered for the orientation exercise.
She described the Corps Members as disciplined, cooperative and supportive, noting that they had voluntarily served on various committees and contributed to the smooth running of the camp.
Ojisua appreciated the Director-General for his visit, saying it would serve as encouragement to both Corps Members and camp officials.
