The Director General of the National Sports Commissin (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for her unwavering commitment to the advancement of women’s sports in the country.
Olopade gave the commendation while the First Lady hosted Nigeria’s victorious women’s wrestling team following their impressive outing at the recently concluded African Wrestling Championships in Egypt.
Nigeria emerged champions once again, clinching aord-extending 15th continental title in the women’s category after securing eight gold medals and two silver medals at the tournament.
The NSC DG described the First Lady as one of the strongest pillars behind the growth and success of Nigerian wrestling, particularly in promoting female participation in sports.
According to him, Senator Tinubu’s consistent encouragement and support have contributed significantly to the remarkable performances of Nigerian female athletes on both continental and global stages.
He noted that the First Lady has continued to inspire and empower young female athletes through her dedication, personal sacrifices, and strongbelief in the potential of the Nigerian girl-child.
Olopade added that her passion for sports development has created opportunities for many young women to pursue and excel in their sporting careers while representing the nation with pride.
