As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, has commissioned four seater buses for technical and science colleges in Borno and Adamawa States.

A statement by Kabiru Haruna, Assistant Director Press, in the  Ministry, stated that the institutions benefiting from the initiative include the Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Lassa, along with technical colleges in Maiduguri, Michika, and Yola.

While commissioning the buses, Professor Ahmad lauded the African Development Bank (AfDB) for its support and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing technical education infrastructure.

She emphasized that the government’s investment in the training of teachers and provision of learning resources is aimed at promoting innovation and quality education outcomes in STEM and TVET institutions.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Abubakar Sanusi Sawawa, Principal of FSTC Lassa, expressed appreciation for the intervention. He assured the Ministry that the buses would be put to effective use in improving access and service delivery in technical education.

Earlier, Dr. Muyibat Olodo, Director of Science and Technical Education, introduced the project, highlighting it as a product of fruitful collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Education and the AfDB. She reiterated the Ministry’s strategic focus on expanding STEM and TVET programs across the nation, particularly in underserved regions.

The commissioning represents another milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to empower technical institutions, bridge educational gaps, and equip students with relevant skills for national development.
