The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to transforming Nigeria’s education landscape, describing his administration’s actions as a turning point for the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Speaking in Abuja, Dr. Alausa praised the recent release of ₦50 billion in earned academic allowances for staff of federal universities, describing it as a bold and responsive step under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, a statement by Kabiru Haruna, AD Press Federal Ministry of Education noted.

According to the statement, “The intervention goes beyond funding, it’s a clear message that President Tinubu is prioritizing education and taking concrete steps to resolve the challenges that have plagued our institutions for years”.

The Minister emphasized that the funds are part of broader efforts to ensure a stable, uninterrupted academic calendar across Nigeria’s higher institutions. He added that the long-standing grievances of academic and non-academic staff are finally being addressed, restoring confidence and fostering productivity within the sector.

Dr. Alausa commended the resilience and dedication of education workers, assuring them that the era of prolonged industrial actions is drawing to a close.

“We are entering a new phase where strike actions will no longer define our academic environment. The Federal Government is committed to fairness, equity, and sustained progress across all education levels,” he said.

President Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to empower Nigerian youth through quality education and practical skills. “The youth are the heart of this country. We will continue to invest in their future by providing access to education and technical training that prepares them for global opportunities,” he stated.

Concluding, the Minister reiterated the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the transparent and impactful use of the released funds, aligning with the President’s vision of a prosperous, knowledge-driven Nigeria.
