Abakaliki: Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has signed into law five executive bills recently passed into law by the Ebonyi state house of Assembly.
The bills include; Ebonyi State School of health Science and Technology Law, Ebonyi State University and Related Matters (Amendment) Law, Ebonyi State Investment Promotion Investors, Protection, Concession and Regulatory Commission Law, Ebonyi State Revenue Matters (Amendment) Law,and Ebonyi State Pension Reform (Amendment) Law.
Umahi, who highlighted the importance of these laws to the socioeconomic development of the state, especially the Ebonyi state Investment Promotion Investors, Protections, Concessions and Regulatory Commission Law, which he said was mostly to protect the right of Investors in the state,thanked the House of Assembly members for the speedy passage of the laws.
He further explained that the law on the school of health sciences,will authorise the school of health technology, Ngbo, through the Ebonyi state university,to offer their students for the National Youth Service Scheme.
He encouraged the House to also expedite action towards the law,that pertains to the resolution of Enyigba/Abakaliki communal crises,and other communities involved, so as to bring about permanent peace in the areas.
Meanwhile, governor Umahi has placed a curse on cultists and their sponsors in the state, just as he vowed not to appoint any cultist into any political position,while the suspected cultists in his administration were warned to indicate before it is too late.
In his words, “If you are cultists and you are not ready to repent and save the lives of our people,God will take your own life in the next seven days,as the father of the state I curse you and your lineage”.
Umahi, who decried the increasing cases of cultism in some parts of the state in recent time, assured that his administration would not rest until the state got rid of the menace, stressing that he has never been a cultist to achieve any position he has held.
“I have never been in cult,and if I could bear this through God’s grace,meaning that cultism is not what has earned you to where you are today,but, it can remove you from where you are.
“We are indicted very badly from the centre under the security agencies because the names of those that do them,that are state officials are clearly known.
“Cultism does not give you protection or strength. Lives are being lost. Am told few days ago that Akpuoha people are in a crisis because of cultism and I have ordered the security agencies to go and catch-all of them and put them in prison.
“These cultists kill our people at the slightest provocation. You may start a fire but you may not be able to quench it. Whatever that a man sows, that’s what he shall reap. If you partake in the shedding of Innocent blood of people’s children,it means your own children will be in danger. Let us reflect on these things”.
