ABUJA—About 3000 Nigerian Christians will on Friday, January 25, 2019, gather at the forthcoming Nigeria Christian Summit 2019, holding at the Presidential Villa Abuja, to pray for the country’s leadership, peace and unity.
Disclosing this at a press Conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the National Coordinator,Concerned Nigerian Christian’s Forum, (CNCF) Mr. Isaac Balami— a group which is championing the cause, noted that the need to pray for the leadership of the country has become imperative.
“The leaders of our nation form the arrowhead in the pathway of good health for our nation and the Biblical mandate of 1Timothy 2:1-2 enjoins us to pray for our leaders and all those in authority”, he stated.
Balami also added, that ethnic clashes and hate speeches have unconsciously pitched hate and distrust among nigerians, hence the need for the summit— to pray for the leadership of the country for wisdom to push for healing, reconciliation, peace and unity.
He emphasized, that the country needs a unifying force with Christian ideals and unshakeable purpose to support in reinventing a more purposeful
national identity.
According to him, “We are not in doubt that Nigeria needs a ready, able and capable unifying force armed with Christian ideals and unshakable purpose in order to support her in re-inventing a more purposeful national identity.
“If Nigeria fails in this noble cause, the result shall be devastating with further polarization of our people, deepening of our disharmony and a robust harvest of pain and chagrin which are inimical
to the peace and development that we desire and that we deserve as a
nation.
“CNCF through the Nigerian Christian Summit 2019, senses this need to
pray for the leadership of our country for wisdom and through this, make them push for healing, reconciliation, peace and unity” Balami
said.
On the forthcoming general election which is only 24 days away, Balami remarked that the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), has a a vital role to play, adding that the Summit will also pray for the Commission to carry out a smooth election.
The Summit with the theme, ‘National Healing, Reconciliation and Unity’, is hoping to bring together about 3000 Christian leaders from various denominations across Nigeria.
