In order to improve the existing China-Nigeria relationship and also to create more opportunities for Nigerians, the federal government has assured the Chinese government of implementing the 2018 Forum for China African Cooperation (FOCAC) Initiative.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hajiya Khadija Abba-ibrahim,stated this recently in Abuja, alongside the Assistant Foreign Minister and Co-chair of the Chinese follow up committee on FOCAC, Chen Xiaodong.
She described FOCAC as a framework to strengthen Nigeria-China relationship and promised Nigeria’s commitment in implementing the right major initiative of 2018 FOCAC summit.
Abba-Ibrahim said, “We do assure you of Nigeria’s cooperation and support for FOCAC as its a major implementation of the eight major initiative of the 2018 FOCAC summit and that the present Nigeria government lays major emphasis on improving the economy, combating corruption and improving security”.
She further commended the Chinese government for sending a delegation to follow up the discussion made at the FOCAC in order to ensure its implementation as soon as possible.
On his part, the Chinese Minister Chen Xiaodong, stated that the main purpose of his visit to Nigeria is to follow up the initiative discussion between Nigerians and China.
“We look forward to pushing through the indept growth of China-Nigeria and to push forward China- African cooperation as a whole” Xiaodong said.
