Thierry “Igwe” Henry was given a royal ceremony on Sunday.
Former France forward and World Cup winner Henry was paying Nigeria a visit in an event organised by Guinness Nigeria, and he certainly got into the spirit of it all.
Arsenal’s all-time top goalscorer was given an Igbo royalty garb to wear before he attended his coronation.
Apparently, the reason for the ceremony is because Nigerian football fans would shout “Igwe”, meaning king, whenever Henry scored for the Gunners.

While he was playing, Nigerians would shout Igwe when Henry scored after falling in love with the all-time great football icon.
Arsenal has huge followers in Africa’s most populous country Nigeria and whizkid, Alex Iwobi will hope to tap into the same support.
France legend Henry has recently been linked with the Wales job after having his coaching badges with the Welsh FA.
