Abuja-The Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya has disclosed that the NAF through the very active support of the Federal Government, has moved the serviceability of its aircrafts from about 30 percent to about 70 per cent within the past two years
This is just as he said that Aircraft Serviceability status is very critical to an Air Force, adding that the NAF has also tried to localise most of its trainings.
The DOPRI who made the disclosure over the weekend at the Radio Nigeria Network News, expressed dismay over the poor reportage of the activities of the Nigerian Air Force in the fight against insurgency.
He said; “The Air Force activities in the ongoing insurgency has unfortunately been largely under reported. One thing that I will plead with Nigerians to understand is that the nature of asymmetric warfare which is what this fight is all about is such that it is always protracted but the NAF has always been actively involved”.
While noting that the ongoing insurgency is tragic, he stated however that the Nigerian Air Force has functioned well in the area of airpower, adding that the NAF is experiencing a new dawn at the moment.
He also announced that the 2017 African Partnership Flight which will see Nigeria playing host to the Air Force of other nations will help to build strong and transparent partnership to enhance regional stability and security, through formal alliances and exchange of information.
Air Commodore Adesanya stated also that Nigeria will benefit from synergizing with the United States as well as African partner nations towards improving air knowledge which will in turn help foster regional security.
