With three days to the Legends Football Game 2026, African football greats are expected to begin arriving in Lagos on Thursday as organizers, Toptier Sports Management, intensify preparations for the star-studded encounter.
The historic match is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, with accreditation for media practitioners, officials and stakeholders already underway.
The organizers said most of the former international players had confirmed their arrival schedules, with the first batch expected in Lagos on Thursday ahead of the much-anticipated encounter.
Toptier Sports Management, convener of the event, said preparations had entered their final phase, while a media briefing had been scheduled for Friday to unveil final arrangements, confirm the full list of participating legends and provide details of match-day activities and media access.
Convener and Chief Executive Officer of Toptier Sports Management, Chichi Nwoko, said the organization was committed to delivering a world-class event, with attention to logistics, players’ welfare, accreditation and fan experience.
The encounter will feature Nigerian football icons from the celebrated 1994 and 1996 Super Eagles squads, led by Daniel Amokachi and Mutiu Adepoju, against an African Legends side headlined by former African Footballer of the Year, Emmanuel Adebayor.
Adebayor, the Togolese striker who featured for Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, is expected to be one of the major attractions at the event.
Other prominent African stars expected include Senegalese legend El-Hadji Diouf, former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah and Ivorian international Didier Zokora.
The African contingent will also feature Ghana’s John Paintsil and Anthony Baffoe, Senegal’s Khalilou Fadiga, Burkina Faso’s Aristide Bance, and Cameroonian greats Rigobert Song and Alexandre Song.
Beyond the football spectacle, the event will celebrate 30 years since Nigeria’s historic triumph at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, the country’s 1994 Africa Cup of Nations victory and its maiden appearance at the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
The organizers also expect the gathering to provide opportunities for networking, entertainment and interaction between young footballers and the legends whose contributions helped shape African football.
