Organisers of the PremiumTrust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon have confirmed the start and finish points for the 2026 edition, scheduled for Saturday, November 14, with the race set to begin at 6:30 a.m.
The 21.1-kilometre race will start at the Old Parade Ground, opposite the Federal Fire Service on Mohammed Buhari Way, and finish at the Velodrome inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The organizers, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, said the route was designed to showcase the Federal Capital Territory while providing elite runners with a fast, flat and spectator-friendly course.
They also announced enhanced medical support, security and route management, alongside entertainment zones for spectators and families along the course.
To improve athletes’ comfort during the race, chilled water will be provided at 2.5-kilometre intervals, while a cold-water bath will be available at the finish area to help runners cool down.
The 2026 edition will also feature the return of World Athletics officials, who are expected to oversee the event, having supervised proceedings at last year’s race.
Their responsibilities will include monitoring course measurement, timing, officiating, athlete welfare and compliance with international road-running standards.
The competition is listed by World Athletics as a Label Road Race, a recognition that enhances its international profile and provides greater credibility for results recorded at the event.
The Abuja City International Half Marathon has continued to attract elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts and spectators, strengthening its position on Nigeria’s athletics calendar.
With 10 days to the competition, the organisers said preparations were focused on delivering an event that would further establish Abuja as a destination for international road-running competitions.
