The Cross River State Government on Friday showcased major achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Bassey Otu during a Town Hall Meeting held in Abuja to mark the governor’s third anniversary in office.

The event, which took place at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Continental Hotel, brought together government officials, investors, development partners, stakeholders, and members of the Cross River community to assess the administration’s performance across key sectors of the state economy.

Delivering an overview of the administration’s achievements, the Vice Chairman of the State Planning Commission, Dr. Bong Duke, highlighted progress made by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in line with the government’s development agenda.

Commissioners and heads of strategic ministries also presented sectoral reports outlining projects, reforms, and policy interventions implemented over the last three years.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Piys Edet Ankpo, presented updates on road construction and rehabilitation projects as well as other infrastructure development initiatives executed across the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Sen. Prof. Stephen Odey, highlighted reforms aimed at improving access to quality education, while the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Mike Odere, spoke on fiscal management strategies, revenue generation efforts, and financial reforms introduced by the administration.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation Services, Mr. Johnson A. Ebekpo, outlined agricultural development programmes and food security initiatives undertaken by the government.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, detailed improvements in the transportation sector, while the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka Williams, highlighted ongoing efforts to expand electricity access and promote renewable energy solutions across the state.

In the health sector, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Egbe Ayuk, presented achievements in healthcare delivery and public health interventions. The Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Hon. Patrick Egbede, highlighted programmes focused on entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic empowerment, while the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Edema Irom, spoke on initiatives targeted at women empowerment, gender inclusion, and social development.

The town hall meeting also provided stakeholders and investors an opportunity to engage directly with government officials on developmental priorities, investment opportunities, and future partnerships for the state’s growth.

The event formed part of activities commemorating Governor Otu’s third year in office and underscored the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance as it enters the final phase of its tenure.
