ABUJA: Following the reappointment of  Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as Minister of Transportation, the former Special Adviser on Health to the Delta State Government, Dr. Rukevwe Ugwumba has asked the Minister to work to improve his region.

Dr. Ugwumba who said this in an exclusive interview with The Sight News, stressed that the Minister should focus his energy on the Niger Delta region.

According to her, “I want the Minister of Transportation to begin his charity at home. He has four years and I know he is going to higher levels after that, but let him work for his people.

“He is a visionary leader and a young man, I want  him to focus his energy on the Niger Delta region,” she said.

She expressed dismay with the state of the roads in the region and vehemently urged the Minister to do all in his might to influence activities in the region to better the lives of the people.

“They say charity begins at home and if you go to our homes, you will be unhappy with the state of the roads. It is a very big issue. The major roads from Warri to Benin can take up to 4 hours against 50 minutes, because the road is very badly debilitated and it is a federal road.

“Even though he is just the Minister for transportation, he can influence everything in the Niger Delta region. Let us have good roads, let’s take leadership seriously,” Dr. Ugwumba emphasized.

She appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for reappointing the Minister, stressing that the reward for hard work is more work.

In her words, “The return of the Minister is excellent, I feel pleased. Amaechi is a loyal person and he has worked very hard for our government. It is not easy, these times are very trying even for our party. For him to emerge, it is encouraging for me and we need to take Nigeria to the next level”.

Furthermore, she urged Amaechi to support women and to bring them up for good leadership, adding that Nigeria and the Niger Delta region as well as every infrastructure needs good leadership.

She also prayed that the new Federal Executive Council would excel.
