The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has appealed to the Bauchi State Government to fast-track land allocation for two proposed transmission substations in Alkaleri and Toro Local Government Areas to strengthen electricity transmission and improve bulk power supply across the state.

The Acting General Manager (Transmission), Bauchi Region, Engr. Muhammed Bello Ahmed, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Bauchi State Ministry of Land and Survey on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Ahmed stressed the importance of timely land allocation to facilitate the commencement and implementation of the proposed projects, which are expected to expand the state’s transmission capacity.

He commended the state government for its cooperation in engaging host communities on the proposed substations, as well as its efforts to protect critical transmission infrastructure through the enforcement of Right-of-Way (RoW) regulations.

He particularly acknowledged the removal of illegal structures erected beneath high-voltage transmission lines, noting the importance of maintaining safe corridors around transmission facilities.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Land and Survey, Shuaibu Alhaji Mohammed, assured TCN of the state government’s support for the proposed projects.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to facilitating the land allocation process and pledged to strengthen security around critical transmission facilities in the state.

The proposed substations in Alkaleri and Toro are expected to enhance the capacity of the transmission network and support improved electricity supply across Bauchi State.
