Former First Lady of Adamawa State, Dr. Zainab Boni Haruna, is positioning herself for a possible bid to represent Fika/Fune Federal Constituency of Yobe State in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
According to a profile published by The Parliament Diary Newspaper as part of its 2027 Personality Profile Series, Haruna’s political ambition is centred on improving grassroots representation, empowering women and young people, and attracting federal development projects to the constituency.
Haruna, who served as First Lady of Adamawa State from 1999 to 2007, is also known for her humanitarian activities, particularly in education, healthcare and support for vulnerable communities.
The profile highlighted Haruna’s proposed priorities, including improved access to education and healthcare, women’s economic empowerment, youth skills development and employment opportunities.
Her proposed initiatives include a women-focused enterprise financing scheme, a youth skills and information technology hub in Gadaka, scholarship opportunities for students and expanded healthcare coverage for vulnerable households.
She also plans to promote regular town hall meetings in Fika and Fune to strengthen engagement with constituents and ensure that their needs inform her legislative priorities.
Other areas of focus include lobbying for federal road projects, rural electrification, improved healthcare facilities and greater access to employment opportunities for qualified Indigenous people.
The proposals, as outlined in the profile, reflect an agenda focused on human capital development, social welfare and attracting federal interventions to the constituency.
Haruna has previously contested for elective office, including the Senate, and has spoken about the challenges facing women in Nigerian politics.
Her reported interest in the Fika/Fune House of Representatives seat could mark another phase in her political journey as preparations gradually build towards the 2027 general elections.
The profile presents her humanitarian engagements, public-service experience and proposed development agenda as key elements of her aspirations.
Her eventual participation in the race will depend on her formal declaration and the relevant party nomination process.
