The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), has announced the restoration of the national grid following multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network on Monday, October 19, 2026.
NISO, in a statement issued on Monday, said the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m., prompting immediate corrective measures in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to stabilize the power system and restore normal operations.
The operator confirmed that restoration efforts had been successfully completed and that the national grid had returned to normal operation.
NISO clarified that the incident affected only a section of the grid, contrary to unverified reports circulating in the media suggesting a wider disruption.
It urged members of the public to disregard misleading information and rely on its official communication channels for accurate and verified updates on the status of the national grid.
The system operator reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining grid stability, ensuring the reliable operation of Nigeria’s electricity transmission system, and providing timely and accurate information to the public.
