Women leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have commenced a nationwide mobilization campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a renewed call for stronger grassroots structures and increased participation of women in politics.
The mobilisation was launched on Monday at the One-Day Women Stakeholders’ Mobilization and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Summit, convened by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BATICC), Abuja.
The summit brought together APC women leaders and stakeholders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including government officials, wives of governors, political leaders, women groups and grassroots mobilizers.
The event, organized through the Women Mobilization Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, was themed “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” with the mobilization message, “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”
Addressing the gathering, Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged APC women to return to their states and communities to communicate the policies and programmes of the administration while strengthening grassroots mobilization ahead of the elections.
She also expressed support for women seeking elective positions and called for stronger coordination among women support groups within the party.
The First Lady highlighted the administration’s interventions in education, agriculture, social protection and empowerment, urging the women to take the message of the government’s programmes to communities across the country.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who was among the speakers, highlighted the Federal Government’s focus on human capital development, food security and women empowerment.
She stressed the important role of women in driving social and economic development.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari, urged APC women to remain united and intensify grassroots engagement as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
The APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, called for clearly defined responsibilities, functional grassroots structures, regular engagement and measurable results.
Meanwhile, the Women Mobilization Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council has set a target of mobilizing 40 million women voters for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.
The Director of the Directorate, Dr Betta Edu, said the mobilization structure was being strengthened across communities nationwide, with grassroots and door-to-door engagements already underway.
The summit served as both an empowerment platform and part of the APC’s preparations for its 2027 campaign activities, with participants pledging to strengthen women-led structures at state, local government and community levels.
The mobilization comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.
