The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, hold a world press conference and national stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja to mark 100 days to the 2027 General Election.
The meeting, according to a statement signed by Adedayo Oketola, Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, will provide an update on the Commission’s preparations for the elections.
Key areas expected to feature include the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the event alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The Commission said the national stakeholders’ meeting was part of its commitment to transparency, proactive public communication and collaboration with key actors across the electoral ecosystem.
Participants are expected to include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organizations, election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organizations and media executives.
The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.
INEC said the proceedings would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms.
Accredited media representatives and invited guests are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
