The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has inaugurated a Planning Committee to coordinate preparations for an oil and gas investment forum scheduled to hold in China later this year.
The Chairman of RMAFC, Dr Mohammed Bello Shehu, represented by the Federal Commissioner representing Anambra State and Chairman of the Investment Monitoring Committee, Hon. Ekene Enefe, inaugurated and chaired the committee’s first meeting at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Shehu said the forum would provide a platform to showcase Nigeria’s investment opportunities across the oil and gas value chain and attract meaningful investments into the country.
He tasked the committee with developing a comprehensive framework for the forum, identifying priority investment opportunities, coordinating stakeholder participation and facilitating strategic engagements with prospective investors and partners in China.
According to him, the forum will feature business-to-business engagements, investment matchmaking, technical presentations and policy dialogue aimed at promoting sustainable partnerships and strengthening Nigeria-China cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
The RMAFC chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working with relevant institutions and stakeholders within its constitutional mandate to support initiatives that strengthen investment, improve revenue generation and promote sustainable economic development.
The Planning Committee comprises representatives of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, Nigeria-China Business Council, as well as officials of RMAFC’s Gas and Investment Department.
The Federal Commissioner representing Kogi State, Hon. Abdulaziz Idris King, and other members of the Investment Monitoring Committee also attended the meeting.
The inauguration marks the commencement of coordinated preparations for the China forum, which is expected to promote Nigeria’s oil and gas investment opportunities and deepen economic cooperation between both countries.
