Nigeria and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, with emphasis on trade and investment, education, culture, innovation, regional peace and security, and people-to-people relations.
The commitment was made when Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Amb. Ita Solomon Enang, received the Ambassador-designate of Germany to Nigeria, Amb. Stefan Roessel, at the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin.
During the meeting, Enang personally handed over Roessel’s diplomatic visa, processed by the Nigerian Mission, ahead of his assumption of duty in Abuja.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both diplomats to discuss ways of strengthening and modernizing the Nigeria-Germany strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Enang encouraged the German envoy-designate to engage widely across Nigeria and experience the country’s cultural diversity, economic opportunities, youthful population and growing potential.
He also urged Roessel to promote a balanced and factual understanding of Nigeria during his diplomatic assignment.
Responding, Roessel expressed enthusiasm about his forthcoming assignment in Nigeria and pledged to explore new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between both countries.
The meeting, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marked an important moment in Nigeria-Germany relations and reflected a shared commitment to building a stronger, more dynamic and mutually beneficial partnership.
