In a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Nigerian government described the relationship between both countries as one built on deep historical and cultural ties, friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation.
Nigeria noted that as neighbouring countries and members of the African community, both nations share a commitment to promoting peace, stability and development in the region.
The government commended Chad for its resilience and continued efforts towards national development, peace and stability, while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the country.
It said cooperation would particularly be enhanced in key areas including trade, security, education and regional development for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries.
“On the auspicious occasion of Chad’s Independence Anniversary, Nigeria joins the Government and people of Chad in celebrating this important milestone in the spirit of friendship, unity, and solidarity,” the statement said.
Nigeria also expressed its readiness to deepen collaboration with Chad at regional and international fora, including the African Union and the United Nations, in pursuit of shared objectives of peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
The Nigerian government wished Chad continued progress, peace and prosperity, saying the enduring spirit of independence would continue to inspire its people and contribute to national development.
