Nigeria and Sierra Leone have taken another step towards strengthening bilateral economic relations with the opening of the maiden Nigeria Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair in Freetown.
Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, attended the opening ceremony of the trade fair on July 30, 2026, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to promoting economic diplomacy and expanding trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The event was officially declared open by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Alpha Ibrahim Sesay, who underscored the shared commitment of Nigeria and Sierra Leone to advancing trade, investment and private sector development.
The trade fair provides a platform for businesses to establish commercial partnerships, showcase Nigerian products and services, and explore new investment opportunities. It is also expected to strengthen the longstanding economic and bilateral ties between both countries.
Ambassador Luther-Ogbomode’s participation highlighted the resolve of the Nigerian High Commission in Freetown to support initiatives that promote economic cooperation, facilitate business-to-business engagement, and deepen collaboration between the private sectors of Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to leverage economic diplomacy as a tool for enhancing regional integration, boosting intra-African trade, and fostering sustainable economic growth.
