President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and leadership of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, announced in a statement on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
Fayose will head the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.
President Tinubu also reconstituted the National Salary and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman. Former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the Commission.
Other appointments to the commission include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde as commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna States, respectively. Additional members are Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
In another development, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was earlier appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
The President also approved the appointment of Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
President Tinubu further inaugurated the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Also appointed was Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, succeeding Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF).
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), as the new Executive Director (Finance).inu
