FAAN Hosts ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Global Maiden Edition

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced the ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Global Maiden Edition at the FAAN Training School. The four-day programme is taking place from 20 to 23 July 2026.

The training is designed to equip FAAN personnel with the knowledge and skills required to support workforce development, talent attraction, career growth, and succession planning across key airport functions, including Airport Operations, Aviation Security (AVSEC), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS), Safety, Human Resources, Finance, Engineering, and other aviation-related disciplines.

The programme aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) NGAP objectives of developing a sustainable, competent, and future-ready aviation workforce.

Declaring the programme open on behalf of the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to investing in human capital development as a strategic driver of operational excellence and sustainable growth in the aviation sector.

Mrs. Orah noted that the aviation industry continues to evolve rapidly, making it imperative for professionals to continually acquire new knowledge and competencies to meet emerging challenges and global best practices. She encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training by actively engaging in the sessions and applying the knowledge gained to improve service delivery across the Authority.

In her welcome remarks, the General Manager, Training and Human Resources Development, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, encouraged participants to embrace the training as a valuable opportunity for personal and professional growth. 

She urged them to actively engage in the sessions, acquire new competencies, and leverage the knowledge gained to enhance their careers while contributing to FAAN’s succession planning and talent retention efforts. She emphasized that developing and retaining skilled professionals remains critical to the Authority’s continued growth and operational excellence.

The NGAP Global Maiden Edition brings together participants from various directorates and operational units of the Authority, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the development of future aviation leaders.

The programme will run until 23 July 2026, featuring interactive sessions facilitated by experienced aviation professionals and subject matter experts. with a focus on strengthening FAAN’s workforce capacity and supporting the long-term sustainability of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
