The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State to set aside their differences and embrace reconciliation, unity and mutual respect as essential pillars for strengthening the party and deepening Nigeria’s democracy.

Idris made the call on Saturday during the Niger State APC Stakeholders’ Meeting convened by Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago at the Government House in Minna.

Addressing party leaders and stakeholders, the minister stressed the need for members to prioritize the collective interest of the party, the state and the nation over personal differences.

He said political disagreements should not be allowed to undermine the progress of Niger State, urging party members to work together in the spirit of unity, brotherhood and shared responsibility.

According to him, democracy flourishes when leaders place the common good above individual interests, adding that the APC’s continued success at both the national and state levels depends on dialogue, inclusiveness and internal cohesion.

Idris commended Governor Bago for convening the stakeholders’ meeting, describing it as a timely platform for consultation, reconciliation and renewed commitment to the ideals of the ruling party.

The minister also highlighted key achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has enabled more than one million Nigerian students to access higher education.

He further cited the growth of Nigeria’s foreign reserves to about $50 billion and the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of more than 2,000 kilometres of roads nationwide, including the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway.

Idris also praised President Tinubu for creating the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, describing the ministry as a strategic initiative that would unlock economic opportunities, particularly in Northern Nigeria, while boosting agriculture, livestock production and food security.

He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the Tinubu administration and the Niger State Government in their efforts to promote sustainable development and improve the welfare of citizens.
