ABUJA – The Chairman-elect of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Romeo Alaoye Omoike, has pledged loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state, stressing that unity and respect for the party hierarchy are essential for effective governance and sustainable development.

Omoike made the pledge on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, at the institute’s headquarters in Abuja, where he presented his Certificate of Return following his election.

The chairman-elect said the visit was also to congratulate Shaibu on his appointment as NIS Director-General and to appreciate him for his mentorship and commitment to the development of Edo State.

Describing Shaibu as a leader whose experience continues to inspire younger public office holders, Omoike said his leadership style reflects humility, accountability and a people-centred approach to governance.

He reiterated his commitment to working closely with the established political leadership in Edo State, noting that collaboration within the APC would help deliver on campaign promises and accelerate development across Etsako West.

Highlighting his administration’s priorities, Omoike identified insecurity as a major concern and pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, hunters, vigilante groups and other stakeholders to improve security and safeguard lives and property.

He also promised to tackle environmental and ecological challenges, particularly erosion and poor sanitation in communities across Edo North, while prioritizing the welfare of primary schools through improved learning conditions and support for quality basic education.

According to him, investing in education remains critical to securing the future of the younger generation.

On the economy, the chairman-elect said boosting internally generated revenue would be central to his administration’s agenda, stressing that improved revenue generation is necessary to fund infrastructure development and enhance service delivery.

He noted that no government can effectively meet the needs of its people without adequate financial resources.

The visit ended with both Omoike and Shaibu expressing optimism that stronger collaboration between experienced political leaders and the new generation of elected officials would deliver lasting development to Etsako West and Edo North.

The statement was signed by Ben Ogbemudia, Special Assistant on Media, Office of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, National Institute for Sports, Abuja.
