Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has arrived in Lisbon, Portugal, to participate in the 2026 EurAfrican Forum, where she is expected to engage global leaders on strengthening Africa-Europe relations and advancing Nigeria’s economic diplomacy.
The two-day forum, scheduled for July 15–16 at the Nova School of Business and Economics, will convene Heads of State, ministers, policymakers, business leaders, development partners, academics and private sector stakeholders from Africa and Europe to discuss key issues shaping cooperation between the two continents.
This year’s edition will focus on human capital development, trade and investment, energy, infrastructure, geopolitics, innovation and technology.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu will deliver the opening address at the high-level Geopolitics session on July 16. The session, themed “How Will Africa and Europe Navigate Global Geopolitical Turmoil?”, will examine emerging global challenges and opportunities for enhanced Africa-Europe collaboration in promoting peace, security, sustainable development and shared prosperity.
On the sidelines of the forum, the minister is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior government officials, development partners and business leaders to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives, strengthen economic diplomacy, attract investment and deepen strategic partnerships with Portugal and other participating countries.
According to the ministry, Nigeria’s participation in the EurAfrican Forum reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial partnerships with Europe while promoting dialogue on global issues affecting Africa’s development, security and economic transformation.
