Athletes from Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and host nation Nigeria are set to converge on Lagos for the highly anticipated Dynamic Athletics Meet, scheduled for mid-August at the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Sports Complex.

Founder and organizers of the Dynamic Athletics Meet, Olabanji Ayegbusi, disclosed that the World Athletics-listed competition has already attracted significant interest across West Africa, with athletes from the participating countries confirming their readiness through emails and other communication channels.

With the 2026 athletics season gradually winding down, many competitors see the championship as an ideal opportunity to end their campaigns on a high note by posting outstanding performances, achieving personal bests and boosting their world rankings.

Over the years, the Dynamic Athletics Meet has earned a reputation for delivering top-class performances, producing world-leading marks, meeting records and numerous personal bests. Organizers are confident that this year’s edition will uphold that tradition by providing a competitive platform for both elite and emerging athletes.

The official date for the competition and registration details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ayegbusi appealed to stakeholders to provide greater technical and financial support to ensure the successful organization of the championship.

He noted that the meet continues to play a vital role in expanding competition opportunities for athletes while creating a platform for established stars and emerging talents to showcase their abilities.

“The Dynamic Athletics Meet belongs to everyone in the athletics family—athletes, coaches, former athletes, media practitioners, board members, technical officials and track and field philanthropists. We all have a role to play in making it bigger and better,” Ayegbusi said.

He also called on the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) to support the initiative, stressing that their backing would further strengthen the growth and development of athletics in Nigeria and across the West African region.
