Nigeria’s world-class sprint hurdler, Tobi Amusan, delivered another commanding performance on Sunday, winning the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League with an equal season’s best time of 12.27 seconds (+0.7m/s).
The reigning Nigerian star produced a flawless race to finish ahead of American Grace Stark, who clocked 12.38 seconds, while Alaysha Johnson secured third place in 12.39 seconds.
Amusan’s latest victory further confirms her consistency and impressive form, as it is the third time this season she has recorded a time within the 12.27-12.28 seconds range. The performance reinforces her status as one of the leading contenders in the event as the international athletics calendar approaches its peak.
Her triumph also comes as a major boost for Team Nigeria ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, scheduled for July 23 to August 2.
Amusan was recently named among Nigeria’s athletics contingent for the Games, where she will be aiming to make history by successfully defending the women’s 100m hurdles title for a third consecutive edition. She previously won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, and retained her crown at the 2022 Games in Birmingham, England.
With her latest Diamond League victory, Amusan has sent a strong statement to her rivals, underlining her readiness to once again compete for Commonwealth Games gold and continue Nigeria’s proud tradition of excellence on the international athletics stage.
