The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has been appointed as the National Director of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) of the City Boy Movement (CBM).
His appointment was formally announced by the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, during the maiden meeting of the Movement’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Speaking after his appointment, Hon. Abba Isa expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Grand Patron of the Movement; Mr. Seyi Tinubu, the Movement’s Patron; and the leadership of the City Boy Movement for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to harness the extensive structures and networks of the disability community across the country to strengthen grassroots support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid and advance the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, the disability community already has a robust grassroots presence spanning the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards and thousands of polling units nationwide. He noted that these existing structures would be integrated into the mobilization framework of the City Boy Movement.
“We will work closely with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and our coordinators from the polling-unit level through the ward, local government, state and zonal structures to ensure effective grassroots mobilization and inclusive political participation,” he said.
Hon. Abba Isa further disclosed that the inauguration of coordinators across the country would commence immediately as part of efforts to strengthen the Movement’s organizational capacity and expand its reach to every community.
Under the proposed Mobilization structure, the Movement plans to establish: 36 State Directors of PWD Mobilization and one Director for the FCT; Six Zonal Directors of PWD Mobilization; 774 Local Government PWD Mobilizers; 8,809 Ward PWD Mobilizers; and 176,846 Polling Unit PWD Mobilizers nationwide.
He explained that the initiative is aimed not only at deepening support for President Tinubu’s administration but also at promoting greater participation of Persons with Disabilities in politics, civic engagement and national development.
The City Boy Movement is a youth-driven civic, political and community engagement platform focused on promoting active citizenship, youth participation in governance, responsible leadership, grassroots mobilization, policy awareness and inclusive national development.
The Movement is founded on the principles of discipline, accountability, professionalism, civic responsibility, national unity, strategic coordination and constructive democratic engagement. Its objectives include advancing democratic values, youth empowerment, citizen participation and sustainable national development through transparency, accountability and active grassroots engagement.
Hon. Abba Isa reaffirmed his commitment to the core values of the Movement, including discipline, professionalism, integrity, accountability, loyalty, transparency, teamwork, service, excellence, strategic leadership, grassroots inclusion and respect for constituted authority.
He also pledged to work collaboratively with stakeholders across all levels to strengthen the Movement’s structures, broaden its national reach and ensure the meaningful inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria’s democratic and developmental processes.
