The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned seven-hour power interruption in parts of Osun State as it undertakes routine annual maintenance on a major transformer at the Iwo Transmission Substation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, TCN said maintenance work would be carried out on the 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Iwo Transmission Substation from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 4, 2026.
According to the company, the exercise forms part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring the reliability, stability and efficient operation of the national transmission network.
As a result of the maintenance, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to receive bulk electricity supply from the substation during the period. Consequently, electricity consumers in Iwo Town, Bowen University and Rabbish will experience a temporary outage for the duration of the exercise.
TCN appealed to affected customers for understanding, assuring them that normal power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the maintenance work.
The company also expressed regret over any inconvenience the planned outage may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas.
