The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage that will affect electricity supply across Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, as well as parts of Bauchi and Yobe states, on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
In a statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the outage is scheduled to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to enable its maintenance crew carry out annual maintenance on the Mando–Kumbotso 330kV transmission line in Kano Region.
According to the statement, the maintenance exercise is necessary to repair a damaged Red Phase Conductor on Tower T187 along the transmission line route.
TCN explained that the maintenance work will temporarily prevent the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) from supplying electricity to customers within its franchise areas covering Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, in addition to some parts of Bauchi and Yobe states.
The company also disclosed that customers in Gazaoua, Niger Republic, who are supplied through the line, would be affected during the maintenance period.
TCN appealed to affected consumers for understanding and apologised for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause.
