A coordinated military operation conducted by the Armed Forces of Nigeria in collaboration with the United States Africa Command has resulted in the elimination of Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki, identified as the second-in-command of ISIS operating within the Lake Chad region.
The operation, executed in the early hours following extensive intelligence gathering and strategic planning, was described as a major breakthrough in ongoing counterterrorism efforts targeting insurgent activities in the North East.
Security sources said Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki had been linked to several recent attacks on military formations and personnel across the region, making him a high-value target in the fight against terrorism.
The successful mission underscores the growing security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in combating extremist threats and restoring stability in affected communities.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was commended for his continued commitment to national security, while the United States Government received praise for its sustained partnership and support in Nigeria’s counterterrorism operations.
