The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has inaugurated a Joint Technical Committee on Strategic Collaboration with the Nigeria Correctional Service as part of efforts to deepen inter-agency cooperation and support rehabilitation initiatives within the nation’s correctional system.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olubunmi Olusanya, inaugurated the committee during a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the ministry’s conference room in Abuja.
According to the ministry, the committee is expected to strengthen collaboration between both institutions, enhance rehabilitation programmes for inmates, and promote sustainable reintegration efforts aimed at supporting correctional reforms and social inclusion.
The initiative underscored the ministry’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that contribute to human development, rehabilitation, and poverty reduction across the country.
