The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained its intensified air campaign against terrorist elements in the North-East, successfully destroying insurgent hideouts during a precision strike in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State.
The operation, carried out on April 24, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted Ali Sheriffti, a location identified as a known terrorist enclave.
According to the NAF, the mission followed credible intelligence reports indicating renewed terrorist activity in the area. Air assets deployed for surveillance reportedly detected several insurgents moving through concealed routes before tracking them to structures hidden beneath dense vegetation.
After positive identification of the targets, fighter aircraft executed a coordinated strike, destroying the structures and inflicting significant damage on the terrorists’ operational base.
Military authorities said the mission further weakened the terrorists’ mobility and capacity to operate within the marshy Tumbuns region, long regarded as a strategic sanctuary for insurgent groups.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to sustained offensive operations, stressing that no terrorist enclave would be allowed to remain beyond the reach of the Nigerian Air Force.
He added that air operations would continue with greater intensity as part of broader efforts to protect lives, restore peace, and dismantle terrorist networks across the country.
